Free Workout: Deadlift Meets Kettlebell
I’m often asked the age old question:
“But Ash how will Kettlebells help me develop my main lifts? How would I structure a workout like that?”
Okay, maybe that was two questions but I do get asked them regularly. Now the first question is a lot more complex than you may think which I believe requires a completely separate post so expect to see that soon!
In this post though, I’m going to show you a full workout including warm up, main body and auxiliary sections. It has been completed by myself and my clients on many occasions and the feedback is always incredible to read, personally speaking witnessing one of the crew hit a 45kg PR on his pull after 12 weeks was f*cking insane! (Goes to show Kettlebells DO improve your conventional lifts)
Now yes the workout is tough it’s meant to be! Nothing in life comes easy so why should our training be?
We all desire to improve or better ourselves yet often when performing physical exercise we very rarely hit or even remotely come close to our true potential (I include myself in that statement).
Throughout this workout your weight selection is completely your choice and heavily dependant on what you’re focusing on within your training. But the one area that does ramp up in weight is the Deadlift section (please note you can use a normal barbell or trap bar for this).
The rep style for the Deadlift is what’s called “ramping or ascending sets”, with each round that goes by you increase the load lifted making every set more and more challenging. Your focus should be on performing a HEAVY but good quality repetition on the final round.
(…not like my rep featured below…who knew a rusty axle mixed with tracksuit bottoms create an ungodly amount of friction…but hey be proud but never satisfied!)
This workout is a fantastic blend of conventional meets the unconventional world and can make some seriously impressive gains when programmed regularly!
I want you to CHALLENGE yourself, give this workout a go tag me (@unorthodox.ash or @unorthodoxstrengthsociety) and I would LOVE to hear your feedback!
